Last week I had a visit from my Daughter and her husband and they went over to Johnson's Beach on Perdido Key to go to the beach and were amazed how few people were there. I told them that now that school is back in session not many people visit our area and this is the best time to take walks on the beach and soak up the sun. After they left I thought it would be a good time to look up some information on Perdido Key and let other people see why we love it here.
Perdido Key is known for its beachfront homes, which cater to many upper-middle class residents. Hurricane Ivan destroyed much of Perdido Key in 2004. Approximately 60% of Perdido Key is government park land, part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore and Perdido Key State Park. Perdido Key is home to the famous Flora-Bama Lounge, which is on the Florida-Alabama State line and is often considered one of America's last great roadhouses.
